Evie Wood takes 2nd place at Honours Project Symposium Competitive Talks 2023

Our honours year student Evie Wood has bagged 2nd place at this year's BBSE Honours Symposium Competitive Talks with her talk titled 'Testing Monoclonal Antibodies (mAbs) Interactions with the HpARI and HpBARI Protein Families'. Many congratulations to her and all the other winners!

Nicole Ong wins 3rd place BrightSparks award!

At this year's BSI Congress 2023, Nicole Ong was shortlisted to present her work on Mast Cell IL-33 Signalling in Intestinal Helminth Infection and won the 3rd prize BrightSparks (PhD) award. Many congratulations to her and the other winners!

Medical Research Foundation (MRF) Enhancing Research Award

The McSorley lab has been awarded a 1-year MRF Enhancing Research Award: Asthma Research, on “Modulation of immune responses to reduce pathology in a pre-clinical asthma model”! This will allow us to investigate how administration of a series of helminth-derived proteins could prevent or treat asthma in a chronic-clinically relevant model, using cutting-edge measurement of murine lung function.

Congratulations to our PhD student Vivien Shek on being awarded the Royal Society of Edinburgh Saltire Early Career Fellowship! Vivien will be working with Hermelijn Smits' lab in the Leiden University Medical Center, fostering collaboration between both of our labs.

Henry McSorley awarded the Wellcome Investigator Award

The McSorley lab is proud to announce that we have been granted a 5-year Wellcome Investigator award on “Molecular regulators of the alarmin IL-33 in health and disease", which will help to further our work on the role and control of the IL-33 pathway in helminth infection, asthma and obesity.
